The winner of Marler Haley’s charity competition 2013 is The Orpheus Centre, a centre for young disabled adults, winning with 39% of the public vote.

As a prize, Orpheus has been awarded £300 worth of Marler Haley vouchers to use toward marketing and display equipment.

Runners up were the Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre and St Mungos.

Committed to charities

This is the third year that Marler Haley has organised a charity competition, showing our continued commitment toward this important sector.

Andrew Pocock, Marler Haley’s Sales and Marketing Director said, “We understand how difficult financial times place a higher burden on small charities.

“Without marketing materials, such as banner stands, raising awareness of their work to gain new supporters and funds can be tough. Marketing materials can also be a neglected afterthought when funds can be spent toward their charitable aims. But, we know that display stands hold the power to provide a professional-feel for charities to attract attention as well as the ability to deliver a healthy return on investment for increased awareness and much needed funds.

“We believe that providing an opportunity for charities to start or build their collection of display equipment through our competition will provide them with a valuable resource that can be used as their ‘desert island’ choice at events for years to come.”

Winning charity The Orpheus Centre

OrpheusWith 900 votes, Orpheus clenched this year’s prize. Orpheus is a centre for young disabled adults with a passion for the performing arts. They provide a tailored learning programme to help students gain skills to be able to live independently, enabling them to make informed choices about their future.

Amy Sweeting, Community and Corporate Fundraiser for Orpheus told us that, “Winning these vouchers will enable us to promote ourselves more effectively to the local and wider community.

“We have just completed a re-brand here at Orpheus, and we are very excited about getting some banners and a stand printed with our new logo and some pictures of our students. Our new look will mean we are reaching up to our professional standards at all fundraising and student recruitment events.

“We look forward to sharing our new marketing materials with the world and raising lots of awareness for Orpheus in years to come.”

In total, 2,334 people voted in our charity competition to decide the winner. Amy told us what it means to Orpheus to have won, “It means a lot that people have taken the time to vote for us on the competition and it proves how loyal and devoted our supporters are.

“Thank you to everyone that voted and raised awareness for Orpheus, helping more young disabled adults on their journey to independence.”

Thank you again!

We would like to sincerely thank everybody who voted in our 2013 charity competition as well as Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre and St Mungos for putting up a valiant effort as finalists!
